How to choose hair color based on your (Indian)skin tone?
Choosing a hair colour that compliments your skin tone is important if you want to stand out from the rest. adding highlights to your natural hair is the best way to make them pop and look funky. But not all colours will look natural to your hair. you must choose a hair colour that goes well with your skin tone. While a good hair colour will enhance your natural features, bad hair colour will look unnatural and made up. All of us have a pigment called melanin in our bodies which is responsible for determining the colour of our hair, eyes, and skin. It also regulates how our skin changes its colour by the climate. You should start by determining whether your skin tone is warm or cool.
Don’t worry we have given you some tips below which will make this process ten times easier.
- TIP 1: if your skin turns reddish in sun then you belong to a cool skin tone family and if it turns tan, then you are a warm skin tone.
- TIP 2: inspect your wrist closely. If your veins are green then you are warm-toned. If they look blue-purple then you’re cool-toned. If it’s hard to determine the colour of you’re veins then maybe it’s because you have a neutral skin tone.
- Warm undertones should consider warm colours like golden, copper, caramel. Same way cool undertones should opt for cool colours like platinum blonde, ash tones.
- Keep it easy and go with a colour that compliments your eye colour. With trials and error, you can find the colours that are perfect for you. As always, we are gonna help you with it….
For Indian skin tones, a safe option is to go with natural hair colours like brown and burgundy or highlights of red. Choose your hair colour by your skin undertones.
BURGUNDY HAIR COLOR
Brown colour in itself has many shades to it, which can cater to all Indian skin tones. If you are warm-toned, shades like chocolate brown and ash brown will suit you the most. And if you have a cool skin tone, mahogany and chestnut would look best on you.
RED HAIR COLOR
Even though red hair colour is a little tricky and risky to get on board with, it doesn’t make it less beautiful. With a shade that suits your skin tone, you can always rock this colour. If you are fair-skinned, you can try light red or copper-red. For olive skin tones, choose blue-based reds which are darker.
FUNKY HAIR COLORS
This is for all experimental ladies out there. Just like red, these colours are also very tricky to get right but they are very funky and cool. As with red, you need to be very careful in choosing such colours. The best way to incorporate these colours is to use them as highlights or streaks. If you have a warm skin tone, wear these hair colours:
- Deep rich browns like chocolate, chestnut, or auburn as a base •
- Rich golden browns
- Highlights with warm golds and reds or copper
- Avoid blue, violet, white, and jet black. These hair colours can make you look washed out If you have a cool skin tone, wear these hair colours:
- Cool reds, like burgundy.
- Intense browns with a warm base, like red or blonde to brown
- Highlight with cool shades such as wheat, honey, or taupe, cool ash brown
- Avoid gold and bronze tones, which can make you look drawn
