Money chest meaning

Money chest and currency chest is called where RBI keeps his money. Whenever RBI prints money, it sends money chests to keep it and then money chests are supplied to other banks. We can also say in the second term that it is a branch of other banks which is authorised by RBI and there are notes, coins placed on it. As per RBI data RBI has set up over 4,075 currency chests all over the country. Besides these, there are around 3,746 bank branches that act as small coin depots to stock small coins.
